Arriva, one of Europe's major passenger transport groups has bus depots throughout the UK serving as bus stations, offices,
vehicle
parks and engineering workshops. The workshops have unique heating needs - with few people and ageing, cavernous buildings.
Since 1988 MCL Energy has progressively upgraded and / or replaced the heating and control systems at their 22 sites in the North
East of England.
The project has encompassed replacement of warm air by radiant heating, change of fuels, insulate pipework and
install motorised zone valves. All these changes have been coordinated by linking all subsystems remotely.
The whole project has been designed, built and financed by MCL Energy who will have operated some of the sites for 20 years and produced savings of up to 50% in that period.
"The sites operated by MCL Energy have the lowest heating costs (in terms of fleet size) in the Group."
